Director, Atlantis Academy
Ms. Bussiere is director of Atlantis Academy and has been involved with the school since 2001. Her previous education experience includes positions as a physical education and social studies teacher. Ms. Bussiere is a certified Notary Public and has earned a Lifetime Teacher Certificate for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and a Foundations of Reading Certificate. She earned a degree in elementary education from Bridgewater State College. Ms. Bussiere is involved in the National Council for Social Studies and is a member of the U.S. Track and Field Association. When she is not working, Ms. Bussiere enjoys woodworking, reading and riding her Harley.
Ms. Mandat is assistant director of Atlantis Academy. She has been at the school since 2003 where she has taught third- and fourth-grade math, English and science. As a teacher, Ms. Mandat enjoyed inspiring and motivating students to learn. She received a bachelor’s degree in biology from Florida Atlantic University and is currently working for her certification in science for grades 6-12. A few of Ms. Mandat’s favorite hobbies include reading, exercising, helping animals and playing games and sports.
L.I.F.E. Program Lead Teacher & Transition Specialist
Ms. Rivera has served as the middle team Foundations lead teacher since 2012. In this role, she teaches all subjects in a self-contained middle school classroom. Ms. Rivera has more than 20 years of experience in education and has taught grades K-12 as a classroom teacher, itinerant teacher and center-based teacher. Ms. Rivera received her bachelor’s degree in education from St. John’s University in Jamaica Queens and has been on the professional advisory board for the North Broward chapter of Children and Adults with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder since 2011. Two of Ms. Rivera’s favorite hobbies are reading and cooking.
L.I.F.E. Program Job Coach
Ms. Lopez works as a teacher’s aide and life skills teacher assistant at Atlantis Academy. She began working for the school in June 2014 and has been shadowing students since August 2009. As a teacher’s aide, Ms. Lopez shadows students with autism and remains by their side to ensure they are completing their work and controlling their behavior. She is certified as an ABA behavior assistant and is also certified in CPR and first aid. In her free time, Ms. Lopez enjoys cooking and reading.
